What the parents say:

"My daughter, Reese, is 19 months old today and has been attending Dorothy's Tic Tac Daycare on Baltic Street in Cobble Hill since she was 4 months old. We are moving to Chicago and I would highly recommend Dorothy as a top choice in your daycare search. Dorothy has 3 locations now – Baltic Street in Cobble Hill, President Street in Carroll Gardens, and a new spot in Brooklyn Heights. Baltic is a mix of part-time and full-time babies and toddlers. The structure of the school has created a wonderful routine for us – making it a family environment for both parents and toddlers alike. As parents working full-time, my husband and I deemed communication a top priority. We keep a notebook where Dorothy documents Reese’s naps, poops, food, moods, and activities every day. The notebook is a great way for us to chart her progress, and even note when she was sick or got a new tooth. The pediatrician loves it too. Sleep has also been extremely important for our daughter. When Reese was very little she regularly took 5 naps a day. She still takes two naps per day. Dorothy has a separate napping room complete with sound machine, where Reese loves to re-charge. Dorothy encourages us to prepare our own food and gives great ideas and feedback here as well. When I was nursing, there were special instructions for bottles, etc. Dorothy followed instructions with ease.
Her master’s degree is a huge plus. Dorothy is an expert and regularly adds extremely helpful advice about the activities Reese enjoys – which music, toys, friends, fresh air, etc. Reese often brings home craft and cooking projects. Reese also participates in birthday parties and Halloween and holiday party celebrations. Dorothy’s parties usually take place when the kids are most energized around 10:30 AM, so she makes sure to document the events with tons of pictures so all parents can participate. With Dorothy, and her providers – Miss Inga, Miss Zenata, Miss Christina – there are always lots of hugs and laughter. Our family will truly miss Dorothy’s Tic Tac Daycare and will be sure to stay in touch.

"Tic Tac (also known as Dorothy's) is a wonderful daycare. My
daughter has been at the Baltic/Court St. location
since she was 1, and this particular location has a nice range of
children from infants up to 2-3 year-old toddlers. The caregivers are
all so professional, kind, and friendly. They keep the kids busy with
all kinds of crafts (the dinosaur egg was a hit), birthday parties for
all the kids, Spanish, cooking, and yoga classes. The location has its
own backyard; they've had waterplay, a sandbox, and swings in the past,
but I know they are also going to put up a playhouse soon (delayed by
recent rain). This daycare has been a second home for my daughter, who
has grown up to be a sweet, affectionate, imaginative child who
understands sharing and even potty training; she loves it, and loves to
tell me stories about her day.
As a privately run daycare, I find it is more flexible; when I need an
extra day or hour they have always accomodated me, and the rates are
reasonable. Kids get a lot of attention, and they are all great friends; it is a
nice place for a child's first experience in a daycare environment or
even to get a little socialization.
