I am a certified teacher with over seven years of teaching experience. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University, where I graduated with high honors. I received my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with focuses in both Literacy and Technology. My teaching and tutoring experience ranges from grades K-8. I have taught in New York City, Massachusetts, and Indiana. For the past six months since I have returned to New York, I have been working as a Curriculum Developer for Teaching Matters, Inc, (www.teachingmatters.org) creating a year-long writing curriculum for middle school students. I am currently teaching at PS 89 in Tribeca. My expertise as a teacher allows me to help children individually in a tutoring setting. I have experience raising students??? standardized test scores without taking the excitement out of learning. I am also familiar with much of the curriculum used in New York public and private schools, including TERC and Everyday Math and Reading/Writing Workshop. I have a strong background in helping struggling readers succeed, and meeting the needs of all students, including gifted and talented children. I offer private tutoring for children in grades K-8, in the privacy of your own home. Flexible scheduling after school and on weekends.
