Located in the residential community of Park Slope, in the heart of Brownstone Brooklyn, the Early Childhood Center enjoys an unparalleled setting, one block west of Prospect Park. The Early Childhood Center offers a variety programs for children birth through five years old. The day runs from 9-3 pm, but can be extended from 8-6pm. The Tots Drop-in Center is open Monday through Thursday mornings for children birth through 20 months from 9am-12pm. The Drop-in Center is a large indoor play space with age appropriate toys and activities coordinated by an early childhood educator. A spacious kitchen provides the setting for cooking projects. Our library, with a wide selection of books for young children, is located on the fourth floor. A highly supervised swimming program for full day nursery children and a parent-child swim program take place in our indoor pool.
Terrific Twos: 20 to 28 months. Terrific Twos is a pre-nursery program specially designed as an introduction to the experiences and routines of school. The class focus is on enabling children to work in small groups, negotiate transitions and make choices. Separation is dealt with in a gradual, non-pressured way. Adults leave the room when the child is ready, but remain within the building. One adult per session will remain to assist the teacher.
