What???s special: Progressive education and lots of parent participation in this community-oriented school
Downside: Demand for seats outstrips supply; no gym teacher Community Roots conducts a lottery in March. The school has already attracted a following and a waiting list: For fall 2007, 178 students applied for 50 kindergarten slots, some of which were to be allotted to siblings of current students who are guaranteed acceptance.
